The parking area is located in Detroit, on the corner of Rivard and Atwater Streets. Atwater Street is currently under construction by the City of Detroit between Rivard and Orleans Streets to widen the roadway, provide street parking, a new sidewalk and a bike lane. Construction will continue throughout the summer with detours posted. While the parking area will remain accessible during most timeframes, periodic closures will be necessary and expected to complete construction.
Alternate parking options include the River East Garage located at 1000 Franklin St., the Beaubien Place Garage at 521 East Atwater St., the Port Atwater Parking Structure at 200 Beaubien St. and two gravel surface lots located on the corner of Atwater and St. Aubin.
The William G. Milliken Harbor parking lot will be available to harbor visitors only and will not be affected by the construction.

Effective Oct. 1, 2010, the Recreation Passport will be available to Michigan residents for $10 per registered vehicle, or $5 per registered motorcycle. This will replace the resident annual state park and boating access site permits. By checking "Yes" on your vehicle registration form, Michigan residents will realize a 58 percent savings in exchange for unlimited access to all Michigan state parks and boating access sites. This money will also help support Michigan state parks, boating access sites, state forests and local parks. For more information about the Recreation Passport, visit www.michigan.gov/recreationpassport.
